A 23-year-old Barrie man is facing nine charges, including criminal negligence causing death, following a fatal pickup truck crash that claimed the life an 18-year-old girl just over a month ago.
Kirsta Sandy, 18, of Barrie, was a passenger in the truck which left Sunnidale Road, just east of Wilson Drive, and came to rest upside down in a cornfield in the early-morning hours of Sept. 25.
Two 23-year-old Barrie men were also in the truck and were both seriously injured. One was transported to Royal Victoria Hospital and the other to St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto.
OPP say the truck was stolen.
Emergency crews were on the scene around 6:15 a.m., but various reports about some kind of crash were called into police around 4 a.m. but patrols were unable to spot the truck at that time.
Robert Wood, 23, is facing nine charges. Among there are criminal negligence causing death, drunk driving, robbery with intent, and theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle.
Sandy was a student at St. Joan of Arc High School in Barrie.

A heart of gold stopped beating two shining eyes at rest, god broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best, god knows you had to leave us, but you did not go a lone for part of us went with you the day he took you home to some you are forgotten to others just a part of the past but to us who have loved and lost you the memory will always last.
I wear a pair of shoes
They are ugly shoes
Uncomfortable shoes
I hate my shoes
Each day I wear them and each day I wish I had another pair.
Some days my shoes hurt so bad that I do not think I can take another step
Yet, I continue to wear them
I get funny looks wearing these shoes
They are looks of sympathy.
I can tell in others eyes that they are glad they are my shoes and not their's
They never talk about my shoes
To learn how awful my shoes are might make them uncomfortable.
To truly understand these shoes you must walk in them.
But, once you put them on, you can never take them off.
I now realize I am not the only one who wears these shoes.
There are many pairs in this world.
Some women are like me and ache daily as they try and walk in them.
Some have learned how to walk in them so they don't hurt quite as much.
Some have worn the shoes so long that days will go by before they think about how much they hurt
No woman deserves to wear these shoes
They have made me who I am.
I will forever walk in the shoes of a woman who has lost a child.
I am sorry for your loss i no it is hard as my cuzen passed just 5 days before kirsta i know how you feel life feels hard at times were you cant go on but then their is times where you smile and remeber the good times and how happy you was... she will always be in yr hearts
